Wearable Art; reflecting the female experience and promoting inclusivity

What is wearable art…?

Wearable art is neither fashion nor costume - it is a discipline all of its own. It is art worn on the body and, unlike fashion, where the main objective is to serve a function, wearable art is primarily concerned with expressing a concept or idea.

Wearable art garments are not generally items that lend themselves to mass production and often incorporate unconventional materials and hand work techniques.

Places where you can find examples of wearable art are the international World of Wearable Art competition, The Met Gala and avant-garde runways of the haute couture fashion houses.
